Fine, but would stick with HK
While on my first visit to TJ, and after having spent 3-4 hours in Hong Kong, headed down the block to Adelita Bar. For those wondering whether it's safe, know that it's on the same city block as HK and as long as you don't wander around, you shouldn't have any issues going between clubs. First timers, I highly recommend checking out both clubs because they are very different scenes. Note - no cover charge the night I visited.
While HK has the feel of a Vegas or Miami club (bright lights, loud hip-hop and rap music, television screens all around) Adelita Bar feels much more like a stage show. On the Tuesday I was there, only the main stage in the middle of the room was active, which was lit like a theatre - the surrounds were dark and the dancer was accompanied by an older man announcing her praises (I assume) in Spanish. Dancers and customers kind of circle the main stage in booths and standing, music isn't too loud, waiters didn't seem that aggressive.
Approached a dancer and offered to sit down and have a drink, which ended up being two. The first was $12 and the second $10, with $1 tips for the waiter. Forget her name, but she spoke reasonably good English, but not good enough to hold a conversation. Stayed for 20-30 mins, and then went back to HK.
