1st night shift visit
As my last visit to Dollie's was rather disappointing, I was hesitant to give it another shot. i was traveling back from a business meeting through the St. Louis area and decided to stop off in WP for a little R&R before finishing my drive. The location was undecided, and it was later in the evening than usual so I thought I'd drive by a couple of familiar spots and make a decision then. I got off the interstate and headed towards the clubs and was immediately greeted with the sight of flashing lights, police cars, and officers escorting a handcuffed young man towards one of the cars.
The usual crowd of onlookers had gathered to watch the show. Being dusk, I was a little leery of stopping, given what I was witnessing.
I drove by Wise Guys, my usual go to in WP, and there were just a few cars in the lot. I went on to Dollie's and decided to give it another chance. There was no one at the door, so I hesitated a bit to see if anyone would come and collect the $3 cover. No one did. A dancer at the end of the bar motioned for me to come on in. I sat at the bar and ordered a $5 Bud Light.
That dancer was the only one I saw. It was around 7:30; the dreaded shift change. She went to the back to change into street clothes and came back out to smoke and talk to the bartender. The bartender was very friendly and apologized for the lack of girls. She said they lost a lot of business at that time of day and wished management would institute a 3rd, shorter shift, to cover shift change. The day girls were filtering out of the back and leaving and the night shift girls were slowly filtering in.
