On a Sunday at 3pm, I finally took the Hong Kong plunge. Why did I wait so long?

I made the mistake of going to the old border crossing. From I-805 Exit 1A, turn RIGHT (West) for the new crossing. The old one is beat up, confusing, and crowded. I paid $13 for day parking, walked across with mostly Mexicans, and made quick work of the customs agent.

Even though I'd been to border towns, I'm always stunned for the 3rd world conditions. Beggar women with children lined the entrance ramp to Tijuana, filth and garbage lay everywhere, and most infrastructure (roads, bridges, signs, etc.) showed considerable wear and damage.
