Big place, few patrons in afternoon
Cavernous. That was the reaction I had when I entered the Gold Club on a afternoon. The room probably could have comfortably seated 150 or more, so the handful of patron and about the same number of employees meant that the club felt empty.
The dancers seemed occupied; some with their phones, others with regulars. I took a seat at the stage, bought a soda, and watched for awhile.
There was little interaction with the dancers on the stage, and when their sets were over they went back to the dressing room, phones, and regular.
I was about to leave when a two for one special was announced. Seven dancers appeared, two of which I had not seen in the room before. At most clubs such specials are a sales opportunity, and the dancers circulate following a show on stage. Not here. I chased down one, and asked how much the dances were, and the two were for $40. Not a bargain compared to other clubs in New England that have $20 private dances. I had an average dance from her.
