Can something trying to be this upscale survive Pompano?

That is the question -- because damn they got themselves some serious investment in getting this place up in style, in this industrial town where most Broward clubs have been consigned to. The old location right on the US-1 was not exactly the hotspot of the age nor downtown either but at least it was a main drag easy to reach by first-timer tourists.

Fuzzydog's August 11 review sums up the layout of the main floor; beyond that behind the stage you take a level up to the restaurant, and behind the left bar are the LD booths. Large facility, well appointed. Of course the place is brand new and the management is trying to really show off what a fine establishment we have -- I suppose a plus to that is that all the staff are still on their game to generate good word of mouth. Speaking of publicity, their mailing list tries for, um, "humor" in their "Goldfriend Private Invite" promo e-mails (e.g. for a sports event afterparty: "I love balls, small balls, big balls, all sizes of balls"; or a banner saying "This pussy grabs back, Mr. President". Tries, I said).

The place was not too crowded at 10pm, but that may have to do with it still being too recently started and hey, it IS low season in SoFla. The atmosphere was relaxed, at least no visible effort that night at creating a "superclub" type environment. I hope they don't head that way but fear they may. The management and different crew members like I said were making their best effort to impress favorably and I could observe that they were in constant communication -- which will be key in a place this large.
