Not Bad, But...
Stopped into Torpedo's on my way back to Harrisburg from New York (went to NYC for a wrestling event last night). It's actually along...well, a main street...which is different. I'm used to clubs being out of the way or in the cut, so to see one right out in the middle of town was interesting.
Walked in a little bit after midnight, and the first thing I noticed is that there was no cover. I've only come across two clubs that didn't have a cover during night shift: one I think I just lucked out on by no one being at the register (Oasis in Clearwater) and the other...well, when you walk in you kind of see why (Trap Lounge in Miami). Actually, Torpedo's reminds me of a much nicer...and mixed...version of the Trap.
You walk in and the DJ booth is to your right. The stage is directly in front of you, with the bar surrounding it. Two poles, one dancer on each pole at a time. There's also one or two girls doing a tip walk around the inside of the bar all the time. Glad the walk is contained like that, so only the people at the bar have to deal. The place had more TVs than dancers, maybe 11-12 TVs. The VIP area is in the back right corner. To your left are a couple stairs, and up those stairs are the bathrooms (in the front), three pool tables, a couple regular tables, and the office area. Past all that on your extreme left is the kitchen - didn't see any food, though - and the LD area. The LD area is actually behind a closed door, which I thought was really different. I've never been in a room with a dancer with a closed door, so it seemed odd. I should note, by the way, that there's a possibility that I have the VIP and LD areas switched. I'm assuming the LD area is where it is because dancers were taking customers back to the 'LD' area quite a lot and no one that I saw ever went into the 'VIP' area. Oh: there are A/C units in the club that look like the robots from Watch Dogs 2...which I only mention because I'm playing Watch Dogs 2. Clientele was just about entirely working class - I was the only one dressed as if I was really going out - and mostly Latino.
