The Axe is one of the last vanguard of the old fashioned Shoreditch pound-in-the-glass strip pubs. But nobody in their right mind comes here for the stage dances.

The main area is a longish, narrow room with the bar to your right as you enter; some booths and the stage to your left. The venue is an old, grade II listed pub which has a touch of dereliction to it, but has plenty of architectural charm to it under the dust. 'Private' dances happen in a small room room on the right past the bar. There is a VIP area upstairs, which I didn't partake of.
