blah and dark
In the basement below a couple of restaurants near the Penn campus, easy access by subway at 40th street. Went in around 5, stayed maybe an hour. Three dancers on shift, 8-10 patrons. The club was really dark inside. This is not good when the dancers are dark skinned, because it makes it really hard to see them. All I could see were silhouettes most of the time. Defeats the purpose of watching them dance. The only light on the stage came from the televisions overhead.
Since the dancers were hard to see, and for several songs no one was up there at all, the televisions were all there was to watch. A show about how to flip houses, a tennis game (at least they were female players, one fairly attractive), and a rerun of the X Files. Eventually one dancer did come by and I got several dances. Nice, nothing too memorable. It's a big bar around the main dance floor with an extension that forms a T.
At night, this could hold a crowd, but not when I was there. Two dance areas, one open but fairly private along one wall, separated from the main floor by a wall coming almost to the ceiling and just narrow, one couch next to another. $20 per song. More expensive rooms along the other side. When I went to the bathroom I saw they had little windows in the doors so the bouncers can look in.
