So this was my first time visiting Club Onyx. I live in Washington DC and the drive from Washington to this club in Philadelphia was 2 hours. I left Washington around 9pm and made it to this place around 11:15pm. I got lost finding this place once I got to South Columbus Boulevard! I was thinking to myself “I drove two hours on I-95 with no problem… but get lost in the last few blocks in Philly!” Lmao. Word to the wise, when coming off I-95 North exit on South Columbus Boulevard.

When you see the HUGE Walt Whitman Suspension Bridge DO NOT GO UNDER IT. You would have driven too far. Your GPS will tell you to keep driving… but don’t. Don’t go under the bridge! Instead stop your car and look for a building on your left that looks like the White House with neon greenish blue lights reflecting off the building. THAT is Club Onyx. You’ll see a small sign that reads (grammatically incorrectly I might point out) “Your On Camera” (You’re On Camera).

There is plenty of parking at this club in their private parking lot. So don’t worry. It’s free to park too. As I enter the club I let security know it was my first time there. They checked my ID and noticed my license was from Washington DC. I learned that half of the security was from Washington too! Lol. So I immediately got the red carpet treatment. We chatted about Chuck Brown (a local DC Go-Go musician), Howard University, et cetera. They were very friendly security but you could tell they were very professional and good at their jobs at the same time. They weren’t slouches at all. That caught me off guard that Washington DC was up in the house in Philly. Cool. Very cool. I felt right at home and it was my first time there.
