All I can say is - Rip Off!! Went to this place after hearing about it while at Richards. What I heard was that it was Richmond's only nude club, and they gave lap dances. Having lived in Richmond years ago I was surpised and thought maybe the laws had changed. Someone else earlier had told me the girls no longer had to wear pasties. Well Richmond and Virginia has not changed any, and they still have to wear the pasties. Virginia is the worst state I've ever been to for strip clubs. It's an absolute joke. Pasties, give me a break. Anyway back to Velvets. $5 cover and I believe it was $5 beers. I waited for almost an hour and never got approached for a dance. The girls were so-so at best, not very friendly, and didn't work the floor at all. They didn't even stop by for conversation, or even ask to buy them a drink. I finally flagged one down to find out about the lap dances. Well the cheapest was $60 for a dance with the pasties on and no touching, and the most expensive was $125 for a nude dance with limited touching (thighs/waist). I nearly laughed in her face - I can get the same thing in a lot of other places for $25-$30. Screw Virginia. Apparently Velvets gets away with nude lap dancing because of a quirk in the way they set up their business. However there is no nude stage dancing. If I ever go to a strip club in Virginia again, it will be at the Paper Moon. At least the girls there are decent lookng (from what I remember) and you can get 2 dances for the same price of 1 at Velevets.
