Cabaret East: Too Loud, Too Dark, & Too Few Hotties

This was my first visit to Cabaret East. Cover was $10. Dances for $20. I don't drink so I don't know drink prices. Several staff members spoke to me and were very eager to help and were polite. The club didn't strike me as dirty but it was so dark it was hard to tell. I saw cigarette burns on one of the chairs and since I hate smoking, that was a big turn off. I did not enjoy any of the songs played; most of them were hip-hop not fit for radio play. I prefer rock and some country is OK.

The DJ was annoying, talking over the songs a lot. It was much harder to tell when one song ended and one began, due to the DJ's constant babbling and the unfamiliarity with the music genre. As I mentioned, it was dark and hard to see. They used their colored lights a lot and often the dancer would look red or blue. I'm there to see the dancers and their body, which is harder to do in those conditions.

The atmosphere here is like a party and my preference is something a bit more mellow. There was a decent crowd there and they mostly seemed to be having a good time. I saw lots of milling around by the other patrons, which included several women. Most of the crowd seemed to be made up of black men in their 20s & 30s.
