I had a few hours to...

I had a few hours to kill in downtown Providence at the weekend, so thought I'd give the Sportsman's another try. I've been here a couple of times before and never been particularly impressed with the place, but the Satin Doll around the corner seems to continue on its downward slide, and this is the only other downtown option.

The first thing that I noticed is that the quality of girls here has improved dramatically since my last visit. I might have just been lucky, but whilst there weren't any knockouts here, I didn't see any of the truly scary monsters that couldn't get work anywhere else, either. There were only about eight girls working at the time, but they were all in the 6-8 range, which was a lot better than I was expecting. The club itself hasn't changed much, and it was pleasant enough to sit with a beer and watch the stage show.

I still think that buying tickets in advance ($5 each) to get a dance ($20 each) is a little odd, and that is still what they make you do here, but the dances themselves are relatively private, and despite being a bikini club, you can have a good time in the back room. But this time, there wasn't any music playing in the private dance room, so the dances were to the rhythm of a distant TV show the man who runs the timers was watching.
