Disappointing on Two Fronts
Finding myself visiting Dayton recently, I could not pass up visiting Pinups and Pints. I love craft beer and I love strip clubs. This club showed great promise. Unfortunately it was blah on both fronts. The only beer they had on tap that they made was Thigh High IPA, which aside from its catchy name was not particularly good. I like a good IPA, but this one had too much hops and also too much unfermented malt flavor. So instead of the malt offsetting the hops, the sweetness just added to the poor rating for the beer. They have other craft beers from other craft breweries though, so you can probably find something to your liking beer-wise at least.
The dancers wore pasties, which is a big disappointment, not to mention a turn off in a strip club for me. I am not sure if this is an Ohio thing or a Dayton thing, but it is not what I want to see when I go to a club. The dancers were attractive otherwise, with no bombshells, but not many unattractive ones as well. There is a private dance room and I was quoted a price of $20 per dance, which seems high if they keep the pasties on. The dancers all tried to sell dances in the private room, so I got a chance to meet most of them. They were all pleasant. I asked about removing the pasties in the VIP room and got answers that ranged from an unambiguous no to a noncommittal evasive answer.
From that I surmised that the pasties stayed on in the VIP room. I also asked about how far the dancers would go in the VIP room, and pretty much received answers that were not encouraging. "Try me and see" was as good as it got. $20 was too high a price to find out if the VIP room is worth it without additional intelligence, so I passed. I didn't see many, if anyone go for a private dance while I was there, so I suspect that others have also concluded that it is not worth it.
