I have worked in Washington, DC for the past 25 years, and while I'm fortunate to travel enough to visit clubs in destinations without DC's stupid regulations, I also hang out a the local joints when in need of a "90-minute vacation" during the work week.

Over the years, the occasional visit to Camelot put me in the "not a fan" category, but my recent experiences have left me with a different perspective. What follows is a fairly long review (not "Papi Chulo long," but long). If you just want the 411 on the club, read the first section. The rest of the review is more of an "op-ed" on clubs and customers. Anyway, you have been warned!

Camelot is located on M Street NW, an upscale commercial part of DC, tucked in among offices, restaurants, and specialty shops (Brooks Brothers and Burberry's are within half a block). Generally a safe neighborhood night or day. Parking is scarce, but this is a part of town where folks take an Uber or taxi, or just walk. The physical aspects are largely unchanged with the exception of a new facade. Inside, the club is long and narrow, with seating, a stage, and a bar on each of two levels.
