Amateur Night
Savannah's was recommended to me by an ex-dancer who I met on a business trip. Lo and behold, as I'm driving home from said trip, I see a billboard advertising Amateur Night at Savannah's - and it's only 2 days away.. So I bit.
Arrived around 9:00 p.m. and was greeted by two bouncers and a metal detector. Bouncers were big enough to be imposing, but totally friendly. $10 cover (per individual or per couple), payable by cash or card. Once formalities were concluded, I walked in and took in the sights. There are two stages. The first is two levels - an upper level behind the bar, and a lower level with stageside seating.
As I walked in, the two dancers on are easily 7s-8s, and actually dancing - not just swaying topless beside the pole. In fact all of the dancers I saw that night (at least the pros - more on amateur night shortly) had actual talent on the pole. The second, MUCH smaller, stage is kind of tucked into a corner with a few cushioned seats that give the impression of a little more intimacy while still being visible from the main area. It was fairly crowded (probably due to amateur night), but I still found a spot at the bar to grab a $4 bottle of lager with not too much issue. Was also able to grab a stageside seat without too much trouble, and settled in with my singles. No "dollar parade" after every dance (a nice change from some other clubs I've been to), and the dancers seemed pretty friendly overall. A variety of ethnicities and body types, but all reasonably attractive - probably anyone who likes women would find something to like. Similarly,. the crowd was somewhat diverse, with more couples than I was expecting to see. Music was just loud enough to create a party vibe, while still allowing for conversation with your neighbor without shouting.
