Unimpressive Grand Opening
Used to visit this place in 2011-12 quite often when it was Bliss Cabaret. Was a decent alternative to the clubs on US19. However, they started jacking up their prices, trying to enforce valet parking, etc, and the club has really struggled since then, with several name and management changes. I decided to visit for the grand (re)opening on 6/16.
For a grand opening, I was actually disappointed by the management more than anything else. It was clear that very little promotion or thought went into the opening. There were a few girls there, but only a couple of customers. There were paper cone cups still on many of the bottles, including top-shelf. The decor and layout were exactly the same. The girls did not engage the customers for the most part. The apparent owner walked around, but did not greet customers.
The overall impression was of a club that wanted to portray a grand opening, but not invest the time, money, or thought into actually pulling one off. If I were in this situation, I would fill the place up with friends/family, hire a porn star, pay girls a bonus to be there early, have promotional cards lying around hyping future events, etc. In other words, do whatever it takes to present the image of a thriving club so that patrons giving the club another try would be impressed. Especially considering the lousy reputation this club has had for years! Having personally done several restaurant openings, this had the feel of a place that was doomed to fail.
