So this was my first tourist visit to Philadelphia. Arrived on Amtrak and stayed in the Center City area. This Thursday evening May 25 I walked from my hotel to Gold club about 9:15 and stayed until 10:30. The location is somewhat odd. Chancellor street is a kind of alley parallel to and halfway between Walnut and Locust.

The club is in the block between Broad and 15th Street but Chancellor is blocked near one end so to reach the club you have to enter from the 15th street side. You walk past a couple to dumpsters to get to the entrance. They were charging $5 cover but I got in free after showing my hotel key.

The club is a rather small rectangular room. It is not much at all glitzy. The bar is on the short side to the right as you enter. The stage is also quite small and along part of one of the long sides. The rest of the room is tables and seemed about 2/3 full although there were probably only about 20 customers. TV screens were showing the NBA playoffs. I had bottled water for $5, some foo-foo brand I'd never heard of before in a fancy bottle. The server spent part of her time sitting with customers but was active when someone needed a drink.
