Tuesday afternoon day shift
I had been here a few times in the past (always during day shift, and over a span of several years), and although the place was a bit rundown and low-key, I always managed to find a diamond in the rough. Not so on this visit.
When I walked in, what stunned me was the silence. There was no music; and no one on stage. It's not like the club wasn't open; I got there around 4 in the afternoon, and there were plenty of people inside. Just - no sound - apparently no one bothered to put money in the jukebox - no one talking, and no one dancing on stage. There were three guys sitting alone on the far (short) end of the bar, and I pulled up a seat along the long side and ordered a water.
There were about six guys sitting on the same side as me, three of them had girls dancing with them barside. If you could call it dancing; mostly just sitting there and expecting to get tips. No one even remotely attractive - most of the ladies were not just overweight (I like thick girls, so when I say overweight I mean really overweight), but looked like they could be pushing fifty. I stayed for about five minutes and bounced.
