Hit and a Miss

This review is for two, separate visits that occurred on back-to-back Saturdays in March. I was in Tampa for an extended business trip and decided to hit up Pink Pony. I had been to Mons, 2001, and Scarlett's in the area before so thought Pink Pony would be a nice change of pace.

The club is located off of Dale Mabry on a side road and a short distance away from Mons and 2001. The initial drive up to the club is a bit dark and the parking lot is small and dimly lit. It should be noted that during my first visit to the club there were no groups randomly walking or hanging out in the parking lot, but during my second visit a group of men were simply standing in the parking lot with two leaned up against my car. As far as the club itself, I was aware that it had undergone a remodel and in terms of general atmosphere it is fine, albeit the club is very smoky. Out of the clubs I have been to in Tampa, this is definitely the one that has the most aggressive/obnoxious patrons. Be wary of this if it isn't your thing, as I generally go for a more laid-back atmosphere.

The place has plenty of dancers and they are, generally, young and hot. In my experience the breakdown for this club is about 50% Cuban, 35% White, and 15% Black/Exotic with around 20 dancers on a Saturday night. Like other clubs in Tampa, the Cuban girls here speak almost no english. They engage in what I would describe as routines below the quality of Mons or 2001 but definitely above Scarlett's.
