Still the pacesetter

My first trip to TJ's Hong Kong club was in the late 90s. It has consistently improved since then. In all those years, though, I've always been a budget guest. I recently decided to try out the club with a VIP pass to see if it improves the experience.

Paid my $50 for the pass, which you buy from the cashier guy at the north entrance to the club. It is valid for four months. Your name goes on it, but no one ever checks your ID, so feel free to make a name up. You get a free beer upon entry (once every 24 hours), but to get it you can’t just flash your card to a waiter. You have to go to the north entry, show the cashier your card, and he’ll then give you a receipt to give your waiter in lieu of payment. Dances are half price with the card, but historically those are so hit or miss that I tend to not buy them anyway since much can be had right outside the door for the same price. (The first girl I took for a private dance tried to keep all her clothes on and do an air dance. After that I steered clear for a long time. I gave the private dance another try last year, and a girl busted out a rubber and wanted to fuck me for a $10 tip.)

One major benefit of the card is 80% off rooms at the adjacent Cascadas hotel on Monday and Tuesday. I tried out both a Master Suite and a standard single room over a Monday-Tuesday night. The discount drops the $100 master suite dropped to $20, but they take a $50 cash deposit, which left me shorter than expected on spending money. Didn’t really care for the Master Suite. It was large and had a Jacuzzi tub, but only had one electrical outlet, which you will use for the fan during most months due to the lack of A/C. No remote for the TV, and although there was a safe, it was locked shut, and the staff couldn’t find the key to open it. But for $20 I’m not going to complain too loudly. As for the standard room, there was no deposit, and it was only $11, compared to the $55 rack rate. Excellent value there.
