WTF?

Holy mother of Buddha! This is a pit! And I’ve been in some pretty filthy places in South America. Showed up on a Saturday in mid-April around 10pm and saw a full parking lot, which I took to be a good sign. Was greeted by a couple of AA ladies sitting in their convertible at the entrance. I don’t have a practiced eye for this, but I’m guessing they were working. That was the highlight of the evening. It was all downhill from there.

Stepped inside the exterior door and waited to be buzzed in through the interior door. And waited. And waited. Finally, I tried the door handle and someone inside woke up long enough to buzz me in.

It’s a dingy open room with a door on the right that is the theater and some video cabins on the left. One of the dodgiest-looking men I have ever seen was behind the counter. There was a charge to get into the theater ($7, I think), and a charge for the video cabins ($4, I believe), and I also apparently had to pay a cover charge of some sort, which included a bottle of water. I asked him if the theater was the place to be. He leaned over the counter and whispered conspiratorially that there was “a couple” in the theater, and also a couple in the video booths. He seemed pretty excited about this. I paid the cover and for entry to the theater.
