Went there this evening, thought I'd give it a try based on prior reviews (although some reviews were scary, some were not, so I thought I'd see for myself). I went with a group of a couple of black guys and a couple of white guys. When we got to the door, a white biker-clad guy told us this was a private club for members only. No offer was made to become members, and the tone seemed that it was better that we just leave, so we did. Went to another club down the way (T's is where we ended up if it's OK to mention) and had a decent time without the awkwardness.
