A little depressing
Recently came here for the first time in over a decade; after my visit I remembered why I hadn't been tempted to come back.
It's a fairly large and spacious place, slightly out of place among all the hipster/Hasidic businesses of Mile End. There's a stage in the middle, with private booths in the back (I believe it's $10 per song for dances). When I came in, there were only about four or five customers, and about an equal number of dancers. The quality of the dancers was... low. A couple of them were well past their expiry date when it comes to age, and the younger ones were a little ratchet-looking.
Almost immediately after I sat down, an old dancer plopped down beside me and started a conversation. She was simply unattractive: old, overweight, too much makeup, wrinkly skin and angular features. Everything in my body language suggested I wasn't interested, and I gave monosyllabic answers to her questions. But she still couldn't take the hint. Finally, she asked me if I wanted a dance and I said no. But she didn't get up and leave. She continued to sit next to me and started begging for a drink. Finally, after about fifteen minutes of this, I excused myself and went to the washroom. Afterward, I simply walked past her, toward the door, and out of the club.
