Disappointed
After a few years away, I decided to give Follies another try. It was Sunday night, and Monday was a holiday, so it may have been busier than normal. Arrived a little before midnight and waited in line for 20-30 minutes just to enter. Once inside, the place was packed. Tough to find a seat anywhere. The designated (non-VIP) LD area consists of a bunch of cushy chairs jammed together. Getting a LD there involves climbing over other patrons and around dancers. Not ideal and definitely no private. But that's better than no LD area at all, which is my next complaint. After getting one OK LD there, management reserved the entire LD area for somebody's entourage. That was for rest of the evening, so no more LD area. Since chairs on the floor were tough to come by, I ended up getting LDs while seated on a bar stool. Again, not ideal. In general, LDs in Atlanta are cheaper than elsewhere, so that's good. The LD's I got ranged from good to meh. Then a fight broke out, and everybody on my side try to get out of the way. A few too many seconds of chaos. I was waiting to hear gunfire. Initially, there were two dancers fighting, but the very large security personnel extracted a couple guys, as well. Now we're far from ideal (though I didn't get shot, so maybe I should be feeling lucky). There were a lot of dancers that night; some very attractive, others not my type. I like variety though, and Follies didn't have that. I'd estimate the dancers were roughly 90% AA, 8% white, and 2% Latina. If I go back, I'll only go during the day when I hear the place is a lot different.
