sinclair's Review
I went to Penthouse at 21:30 on a Saturday night. There was a $12 cover. They will give you a little colored ticket, which will waive your cover at any of the other clubs owned by VCG Holdings in the metro area. The entrance was very much like a TSA checkpoint: I had to put my keys, smart phone, and change in a plastic bin, and then walk through a metal detector. I was reunited with my belongings on the other side. A Sincweiser was $7.50. I gave a female bartender $10.50 for my first drink. She was going to give herself a $3 tip, so I had to request that my change be brought back to me. I found this to be unprofessional. Even though Illinois is a smoke-free state, this place allows patrons to smoke indoors.
The club occupies one end of a warehouse along the Mississippi, so it is fairly spacious inside. There are three stages. The large main stage is beyond the bar and has one spinning pole in the center. There are two other stages located in the left corner and right corner of the club. Both of these auxiliary stages are table top stages and significantly smaller than the main stage. Dancers would dance for three songs on one of the stages. The clientele on a Saturday night was mostly mixed groups and couples under the age of 45.
