Way too much upselling - great place to go if you want to argue with a below average dancer

On the surface this is a nice looking strip club. It's in the centre of downtown Portland so very easy walking distance from several nearby hotels. Once you get past the door guys there's a well stocked bar at prices that are above the Portland strip club average but given the downtown location it's not too excessive. There's a nicely lit round stage then round the edge of the room lots of tables or bays where you could in principle watch the action with a beer from a distance. So far so good.

I got my beer and decided to sit at a table and I was pestered for private dances by three girls by thee girls inside three minutes. The first wasn't six feet away when the second decided to have a go and so on. I was actually looking to spend some cash on dances but I'd barely sat down and none of them appealed to me very much.

After sipping a quarter of my beer a nive brunnette came on stage so I decided to go up to the stage. I tipped, as you do, and I was only one of two that did so the girl got chatting and said would you like a dance. I was happy to spend $20 or $40 so I agreed. I got taken round the back of the bar area and got told its $50 for three songs. Well I asked if I had to have three songs and got told well its better value and I figured it was as its normally $20 a song in Portland though I usually wait to see what the dancer is like first. I slightly felt I didn't have any choice so I agreed. I was asked for the money up front, which is a bit unusual and then I got taken to a person who seemed to be allocating private bays to the dancers. The dancer told this woman that I wanted a $50 dance and then the woman asked for $50. I said but I just handed $50 to the dancer and I got told that was for the dancer and I had to pay for the private area as well. I said I wasn't told that but could see I wasn't going to get anywhere. Maybe I should have walked out but it was my last night in Portland so decided I'd make it my one last dance and handed over another $50. Now if it had been $100 for three songs I'd have felt cheated enough but the dancer spent the whole of the first song trying to hassle me to going upstairs to the VIP room where we could "have more fun". It was either $250 or $300 or something, I can't quite remember but no way was I going there. She wasn't happy and gave me a fairly miserable air dance for two songs. $50 a song I make it.
