Slow Night at the Vu
As the hands on the clock passed the 11 p.m. hour I decided to head out for the evening this past Friday. It had been a while since I've been out to a club due to a variety of reasons but I wanted to get out for some fun and chose the LFP Vu. When I made the turn off of Lake City Way and wound around the perimeter of the club, the parking lot looked busy but not full. You can usually reduce the count and assume that many of them are the personal vehicles of the dancers and other employees, but it still seemed to indicate a decent crowd was inside. Paid the cover and entered the main room. There were a lot of patrons but not enough to say the place was packed. However, the dancer count on first observation was seemingly on the low side for a Friday night. I found a seat by the bar side of the stage with a good vantage point to see both stages and the room. While I know it wasn't the end of the month or mid-month, no one seemed to be in the mood to spend money. Even the house dance (3 for $60) didn't seem to draw many customers to take their hands out of their pockets.
The talent level that night was typical and I didn't see anyone that stood out. I did see a few familiar faces, each of whom did swing by to say hi and check to see if I wanted to get any dances. I would have but the energy level of the club and the overall vibe that night was as low as I remember. So I wasn't really motivated to stay. Slow night at the Vu which translated into a short might at the Vu.
