I keep wanting Temps to get better, but sadly, no...

Not that it is all that bad, just that it is the same as it ever was, with the dancers getting older and the vibe fading. Spent a couple of hours there on a Sat. afternoon just after the new year. There were 5 other guys, all looked like hispanic carpenters or masons or something - gave off the vibe of " just off shift ". They hung out in a group of two and a separate group of 3. The dancers hung out in a group of 3 on the lap dance booth side of the bar. I got to say hi to each dancer as they went behind the bar for their shifts, and they stopped by for the dollar parade, but I had to work to make eye contact to get one to come over and sit by me. I think her name was Alice, or Aleese, late 30's Brazilian gal with a nice enough smile but looked bored. I bought a corona for each of us, chatted while I finished mine, then decided, WTH, might as well go for a dance. As we went up the steps the bouncer had to come from the other side of the bar to his table in the hallway to collect the dance booth $$. I asked for one dance and said " let's see how it goes". That turned out to be a good move. The dance was good enough, typical lapper, but when I started moving and asking about more..got the impression she was not at all into it, and I got no traction. As I was walking out a younger looking dancer I hadn't seen before came out of the ladies' room by the stairs, and we made eye contact and I motioned for her to come up on a whim. We didn't wait for the bouncer to come back up, and he never did ( not sure he saw me stay, as he had seem me start to leave with Alice ). I never got her name, but got a much more spirited dance from her with good roaming and a reasonable promise of more, but I was out of time. For me, it remains and " if I'm in the area and have no better plans" kind of place. But I guess the world needs those, too! Where are all the dancers going from the places that are closed / closing down? Inquiring minds..... -MMNYC
