ID Scan Risk
To "protect the dancers" they have a machine at the front door that scans your ID. To be fair, Centerfolds is not the only club in SF that has this ridiculous practice. There was a time when I could talk my way around the scan. Those days seem to be long gone. Now, the scan is mandatory. They're not checking age. They're checking whether you've ever been blacklisted at a SF club. Or maybe they're checking police records. Or maybe it's for marketing. The point is, who knows what they're going to do with my photo? With a scan of my drivers license, they can get pretty far along in terms of identity theft. And so, as much as I like this club, and I like it a lot, I've recently been turned off by this ridiculous and overly invasive practice. Not all the other clubs in SF use the ID scanner. Big turnoff. And now you have to pay a pimp dude for your dances.
Both of these practices kill me because I've been coming to this place since the mid 90s. I've always thought of Centerfolds as the best club in SF. But it has gotten so much more lame than it used to be.
