Post-Lawsuit Atmosphere is Subdued

This review is a "post-lawsuit" update. I travel to Atlanta a few times a year, and I'm a big fan of the Cheetah (see my review of January 23, 2016 for details). Last Thursday was my first visit since the news late last year of a lawsuit brought by several former dancers against the club; the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has been reporting on the case for the last few weeks. Overall, I still like this club, give it high marks, and will return again. That said, the place seemed a little bit subdued. Dancers with whom I spoke mentioned that the club was less busy and that they were performing fewer table dances. As I settled in, it became clear that management was enforcing the "air dance only" more carefully than in the past--Cheetah in my experience has always been a low mileage experience (offset by very appealing, attractive dancers who can carry on a conversation and are generally fun to hang out with, grind or no grind). On this visit, the house mom and bouncers were paying close attention to contact, and would step in if the dancer got too close or the customer tried to get involved. As someone who normally hangs out at one of the bars, the new rules have eliminated floor dances for bar customers--the dancer gets up on top of the bar instead of standing in front of you. Ugh. No eye contact, no close interaction, not to mention that asking a dancer in stripper heels to climb on top of a narrow bar didn't seem all that safe. Learning of this situation, I moved to a table next to the main stage. The dances there were more what I had in mind, but still a bit more restrained than they were on past visits.

One never knows the whole story, but once the press and lawyers get involved, reputations can be harmed. I will continue to patronize the club because of the high level of customer service and professionalism. For now, it appears that the management is doing what they believe is in the best interests of the club.
