2001

I hadn’t been to 2001 in years. I really don’t care much for nude-no alcohol clubs, so I wasn’t really planning on going back, but 2001 is, like Mons Venus, a strip club icon in Tampa, so during my last trip to TampaI decided to stop in and check things out so I could do an up-to-date review.

I noticed there weren’t many cars in the lot as I pulled in a little after 5:00 p.m. on a Monday. Not a good sign. Inside the door, a girl at the counter asked me if I had been there before. I lied and said no to get the newbie brief: “Five dollar cover, one drink minimum, full nude, full contact.” OK. That sounded good. I don’t remember what the cover was last time I was at 2001, but I know it was significantly more than $5, more along the lines of $15 or $20.

Stepping inside, I found out why the cover was only $5. The place was dead. There were only three other guys in the place: two white guys standing together at the bar and a black dude in the corner of the bar. There were only two dancers visible, a curvy blonde with fake tits talking to the black guy and a skinny white girl who started talking to the other two guys. No one was dancing on stage. This was pretty disappointing, but not totally unexpected given the empty parking lot. The last time I was here was more than ten years ago. That visit was at about the same time of day and the place was hopping, with lots of customers and lots of good looking dancers.
