Fancier, more expensive, still sucky chairs
I hit up both Chez Paree and Club Downtown while I was in Montreal. They're really close together (a block or so apart) so you can hop back and forth if you want. I ended up only doing one night in Chez Paree though. The main area is definitely nicer than Downtown - it's big and fairly posh, feeling more like a high-end club. The dancers were probably a touch hotter than Downtown, though that was from a single evening so not a reliable sample.
The big differences here are the prices: it's $15 CAD per song, instead of $10 at Downtown. This is still really cheap, but felt expensive compared to the other option. That said, I would have happily paid it if the dances were awesome. Unfortunately, even though the dancers were good, the private chance booths suck. They're tiny (we had trouble maneuvering around in there, and hanging my coat up actually got in the way enough that I just put it under my chair instead) and uncomfortable. I'd say even a bit worse than Downtown's rooms (which also suck). I don't know what the deal is with these, but I ended up not doing nearly as many dances as I would have otherwise due to the comfort level. It's unfortunate, since I probably would have spent a few hours back there with a bunch of women, but it loses some luster when you're physically uncomfortable during a lap dance, and the dancer can barely move. They also have rules like Downtown banning sucking on nipples and touching in bikini areas. I again didn't try to test these rules so I can't say much about them.
Overall it was still a good experience, and one I'd recommend checking out. I just really wish the management would get it together and build some decent rooms back there.
