Good Value in London

Ye Olde Axe is just outside the busy district of Shoreditch in the East End of London. I paid a visit on a Tuesday night in December at around 7pm.

I paid the bouncer on the door the £5 entrance fee and entered what is essentially a traditional English pub. My initial impression was that it was much busier than I was expecting, given that it was relatively early in the evening. The few bar stools in the pub were all taken and there was a line at the bar. The beer prices turned out to be very reasonable for Central London.

This is one of the dying breed of “pound in the jar” clubs. Each dancer circulated among the customers asking for a one pound contribution into her pint glass before dancing on the small stage. However, the real action here is all about the lap dances.
