Visited: Friday Evening

I was in Atlanta for two afternoons and one night and was trying to fill my time productively. I had spent Friday afternoon at Follies, and – since I don't like Follies at night – I ventured out to Club Blaze that evening. I've been to probably a dozen or more clubs in Atlanta, including a number of the black clubs, but I had never tried Blaze. I read the reviews and got some advice directly from other TUSCLers and took the plunge.

I arrived about 8:15. Parking was $20 (valet) in front of the club, $10 (self-park, I think) on the hard surface not in front of the club, and then $5 for self-park on the gravel not that far from the front door. The gravel lot was well-lighted and the weather was pleasant, so I went for the $5 self-park. I was asked to show an ID and got patted down before walking in the door (i.e., I was still outside), and then once inside, paid the $10 cover.

As has been well described here before, this is really two clubs. Upstairs is a party atmosphere, with *really* loud music; the downstairs is more laid-back. Everyone said the more "serious" lap dances are done at the bar downstairs, so that's where I headed. It's small down there – mostly just a U-shaped bar with seating for maybe 15-18 customers, a small stage, and two pool tables. One of the dancers told me the girls call the far side of the bar "dick row" because, well, it's a bit more private. That's where I sat, hoping for more action than I actually got.
