Football, With a Little Dancing
After a largely uneventful visit to Riley's, I decided to loop around and check out Fannie's. Parking was free, entry was 5. Paid the door guy, went through the pat down, and rushed into the club since the temperature had dropped quickly. Bar is to the left, there's a stage right in front of you, restrooms are to the right. VIP is further up the right. Tables and the main stage at the far end. Place had maybe 4-5 TVs. Music was a little more eclectic than I expected: current pop, 90s rap, some rock, even a little reggaeton.
Got a bottle of water. Waitress thought I was crazy because I asked for one that was room temperature. Question: do clubs sell hot chocolate when it's cold? That would be kind of cool. Anyway, got my water - $5 for a bottle of that size is ridiculous when it's not Fiji, but whatever - and plopped down at a table to watch the game. The Rams' offense is putrid, by the way. The waitress was the only person who talked to me for the entire first half of the game, all the way through halftime. An AA girl named N asked to sit with me right when the second half was about to start. Her timing couldn't have possibly been any worse. Combine that with the fact that she went to my alma mater's rival, and...no. Toward the end of the third quarter, another AA girl asked me why I was lonely. I pointedly said that I wasn't lonely because I was watching the game. She took the hint. Is it just my luck that the only AA girls that I wasn't interested in - well, two of the three - were the ones who approached me? Is there a SC version of Murphy's Law?
Watched the rest of the game and checked out a little news when this talkative brunette whose name I forget walked up. She'd been tied up with the same guy for most of the night, so I figured something had to be right about her - and she didn't look bad. A bit older than I thought, maybe mid-30s. She asked a lot of questions, but spaced them out. She'd ask a question, wait two minutes, and then ask another question. Slightly weird. I wanted her to get to the point, but she took her time before finally asking for a dance. I got three: they were pretty good ($10 each). I left a few minutes later, realizing it was past 12:30 and I have a long day ahead of me.
