Femme Nu going downhill

I went to this club last Tuesday when I was in town. Pay your mandantory cover in the back entrance and go in to get your drink that's included with the cover price. For me its always a Coors Light - the one thing they cant water down. There are three stages and surrounding booths to sit at. From the bar you can watch all three and you'll have dancer after dancer come up to you asking you to buy them a drink and sit in a booth. This place has been here a long time, and by now it looks pretty hardened. The girls look hardened to the whole scene too. When you walk up to the stage, they start coming toward you like fish in a tank looking to be fed. I get the part about tipping to get a good show but these girls make it obvious they're all about just one thing...$$$. When you do start taking bills out of your pocket, they will start dancing for you but looking the other way - totally bored out of their mind. Once in a while you meet someone with a nice personality - unfortunately last Tuesday wasn't that time. The place is half Asian and half Caucasian, not a bad mix really, and I have a thing for cute locals. One blonde stage dancer with fake add ons started asking me if I wanted to go VIP - when I asked "how much does that take and what's available?" she said, well $300 will get a bottle of champagne and we can take it from there. I don't do extras so I wasn't interested. Besides I think this is probably the standard come on for someone who looks like hes not from town. I was with a colleague so we both backed away from the stage and went to sit in one of the booths. Within 5 seconds this brunette girl came up trying to strike a conversation. My friend invited her to sit with us and bought her a drink. I myself was not interested in that. Within 5 more seconds another dancer pretending to be her best friend was hustling me trying to join us. The hustle got to the point where I wanted to leave the place.

Even though this place is very close to the convention center and the hotel scene, I think it favors a local crowd. I'm sure some of the nicer girls still exist that dance here, but this just wasn't my night. Still, this is a Honolulu landmark, so check it out at least one time!
