Big Daddy's
I visited this place about two years ago when it was still called Club Topic. It didn’t impress me then, and it doesn’t impress me now. The good: it’s right on International Speedway Boulevard, the main drag going into Daytona Beach, and it has a well lit, fenced parking lot. There was only one other car in the parking lot when I pulled in. The cover charge was $5. Before paying, I asked the doorman if there were any dancers working since the parking lot looked empty. He told me there were three girls working and two more on the way.
Inside, the place looks exactly like it did when it was Club Topic. There is even an inlay in the entrance way floor that says “Club Topic.” After the entrance, you take a sharp right and enter the main club area. There is an area with pool tables directly ahead. To the left is a large bar that curves around to the left toward a VIP area. I didn’t go to the VIP area, but I remember it was there from my last visit to Club Topic. Past the bar against the back wall is the large stage with a animated light panel behind it. Overall, the look is low-end, but it was very dark in there and hard to get a good look at the finishings.
There were two younger black guys sitting at the stage and two younger white guys sitting at a table. There was a 30ish, heavyset black girl dancing on stage, a 4 at best. There was also a heavy set white girl, also a 4, sitting with the two guys. I didn’t see the third girl, unless the doorman was counting the bartender. I ordered a beer, which was $2. I assume it was a club opening special. I drank about half my beer and watched the girl on stage dance unenthusiastically for about 15 minutes before I decided I had seen enough and left.
