Discovering Atlantis

I'm not often in Philly, but work brought me to town, so I took a flier on this club. Glad I did. Based on my experience, it's a rarity--a clube with black dancers and a mixed race clientel. I've been to clubs that have mainly white girls where I've spent an evening searching for the one girl who "does it" for me -- specifically a girl with a little melanin and a little booty. And I've been to cubs that have all black dancers where I'm the only white guy in the place. Sometimes that's awkward, sometimes not. In contrast, this place is the perfect blend. At least when I went--around 9pm on a Wednesday--there were about a half dozen white guys and a half dozen black guys in the place. Every stripper I saw was in the slim thick range I really enjoy. All were pretty to stunning. All knew how to move--some in a more twerk-centric style, some more catwalk-y, but all enjoyable enough to have been worth the $7 cover and drinks just to sit and watch.

Fortunately, that was just the start, though. The girls proved remarkable friendly. At some black clubs I've been to, it's been hard to get a girl'a attention. I don't know if they're just reluctant to approach a white guy, or if it's just that they tend to be more "local" joints where the regulars trump tourists. Whatever. At Atlantis, I was approached by three different girls within half an hour. All sat and chatted/flirted pleasantly with only gentle hustles. One was called to stage. Another, after I declined a private dance, simlply asked for a tip for her time, which I willingly offered. The third was far more forward, and I like an aggressive girl, especially when one is as striking as this girl was. She dark-skinned, gorgeous, and was wearing ice blue contact lenses that have her such an exotic look that it was hard to look away from her. Not that I wanted to, especially when her hands started wandering all over my lap and she told me she'd been drinking since her shift started six hours ago and wanted to take me to the dance couch before she clocked out.

She didn't need to ask twice. There are two dance areas in the club, she said. One with more privacy for $30 and one with less for $20. I asked her which one she would recommend and she said there was enough privacy at the $20 couches at that time of day to have plenty of fun, so that's where we went.
