Nice place.

It's been probably 20 years since the last time I visited the Wedge. Used to go here a lot back in the day - in the 90's - when I worked in Hunt's Point. Well, back then it was pretty sleazy - a typical ghetto joint. But today (early afternoon, around 1PM) I had a truly memorable experience. I stopped in after dropping off a friend at LaGuardia. I met a pretty young AA dancer who was very intelligent with a charming personality. Had a few drinks with her and totally enjoyed the conversation. The other dancers were also very hot, and seemed friendly and sweet, but I was so engaged with this girl I couldn't pay them any attention. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Music was not overly loud. Bartender was attentive and friendly. Overall I was very pleasantly surprised by the really cool environment. By the way, security was tight. Metal detector, ID check, pat down, no cover charge. Seems like a safe and well run establishment.
