A Fun. Laid-back Dayshift
Made two early-afternoon visits to Pantheon about ten days ago (Thursday and Friday). Bottom-line, I like the place for its quality AA dancers, relaxed vibe, and safe location.
The club itself is on the Eastern edge of Dearborn. I found parking on the street on Thursday, but the next day I had to use valet ($10, on the high side of Detroit-area clubs). Maybe when they finish curb repairs on that block the street parking situation will improve. No cover to enter, just a pat-down by the bouncer. At the bar, call liquor was reasonably priced ($6 for Dewar's scotch). Physically, the club is nicely-appointed, with the house lights a bit brighter than the average strip club. Big stage in the center with two poles and two dancers performing. The eight or so dancers on shift were attractive (7-8), mainly slender rather than thick, and pleasant to interact with. While the dance talent was all AA, customers were mixed (and an old white guy from out of town didn't feel of place). The first dancer to sit on my lap turned out to be a lot of fun, without a lot of pressure to buy drinks or dances. After a while, she took me to VIP ($20 to enter; the old guy sells condoms for $5 and pays no attention to what's going on behind the curtains). Booths are a decent size and cleaner than, say, H8 or Bogarts; negotiated lots of fun for a reasonable fee. Overall, the lack of overt hustle was a major plus, and made for a relaxing afternoon. Given how busy other Dearborn clubs are, I asked a couple of dancers about the crowd (which appeared small given the talent). Both mentioned that the move to reduce smoking was a factor. Despite the (many) options in Dearborn or nearby, I would place Pantheon near the top of my personal list for afternoon entertainment.
