A Really Slow Lunch Hour

When I visit Detroit my favorite daytime spot is Players on Eight Mile Road. Since Players is closed for renovations, I decided to check out their "sister" club, Legends, in part because of reviews indicating some of the girls from Players were working there. The club's website listed lunch specials, so I thought I would be OK arriving at 12:30 pm. To my surprise, I am the one and only customer. No problem, really. The manager encouraged me to stay, and I sat down at the bar and waited for things to get going. A dancer takes the stage, and I order lunch (Filet mignon for $10--a serious value). Another customer arrives, apparently a regular (seated at a booth, and two dancers join him moments later). Meanwhile, one or two other dancers appear and disappear, A few more drift in the front door in street clothes. I'm clearly too early for the place.

The club itself is impressive, with at least three levels and one wall with an immense video screen. The website photos are a good representation, and it appeared to me that they have brought the club back to a very high standard following the fire. The few girls I saw were reasonably attractive; an older dancer chatted me up for a bit, but I wasn't interested. It's tough to evaluate the club--I imagine that late at night, or after a Lions game, the place would be hopping. Whether due to the nice weather (sunny and 70 degrees in November) or other alternatives in the downtown, Legends was without customers when I tried it. To my regret, the club was also without my Players ATF. I finished my steak and beer and made a break for it, noticing that the other customer had finished his lunch and left, too. 1:15 pm and the customer count was again zero.
