Too Many Moms

Finished up a meeting in Dearborn around 1:00 and decided to drop in at the Cricket. The club is easy to find on Michigan Avenue West of Telegraph Rd. Part of the appeal of this club during the day is the absence of "nickel and dime" fees so common in Metro Detroit clubs. Free parking in the back, no cover, no VIP toll, not even a bathroom troll. It's easy ot pop in, look around, and decide whether to go or stay without incurring valet or cover charges. The club itself is basically a nice neighborhood place--nothing glitzy, but reasonably clean and well-maintained. A large oval stage with two poles, surrounded by round tables; booths on two walls, a long bar on the third, and the DJ booth and VIP entrance on the fourth. Lots of dancers and customers when I arrived; two dancers on the stage. A seat opened up at the bar; I ordered a Bud from the humorless, indifferent bartender and learned of the 2 for $9 "happy hour" pricing. Fair enough. As I was settling in, the first three "dancers" who stopped by were pretty scary--elderly (in stripper years), homely, misshapen moms (more likely, grandmas) apparently in need of holiday spending money. Each one of them whispered a promise to make my dreams come true in the VIP, which I declined. Ugh. A few minutes later my situation improved dramatically as a tall, pretty brunette with a body like a '50s Vargas girl introduced herself. Funny, smart, just what I was looking for. She was called to the stage but returned for a drink. Mentioned she lives in Bay City (~2 hours North of Detroit). Agreed to some dances in the VIP; good two-way contact, borderline GFE; no extras offered or requested. She asked $25/song--last time it was $20, but she was worth the premium. On my way to DTW soon after.

Overall, I like this club. While the range of dancers is very wide there is usually someone I find myself happy to hang out with. I like the self-parking, and the club is decently managed. Less smoky than other Detroit-area clubs, which is another plus (not sure what smoking regulations are, but enforcement seems uneven). There seem to be "extras girls" around if that's what you're looking for. It's also OK for just watching the show. I will likely return next time I'm in town.
