Cover charge seems to be one of the issues for clubs in Vegas because of the fees paid out by the clubs to bring you there. Palomino is no different. I hear they charge extra for uber, lyft, and obviously when arriving by taxi. If using these services, I would suggest asking the driver to drop you off at Jerry's Nugget, the casino across the street and just walk over. Also, I can see why there is confusion based on the parking setup but valet parking is NOT mandatory.

There has been many changes over the years in the Vegas club scene. OG's, Cheetahs, and CH2 use to be the spots. I miss those days. Now OG's and CH2 are both closed and Cheetahs isn't even mentioned when talking about clubs in Vegas. Currently, we think Palomino is one of the best clubs in Vegas. Still expensive as is most of Vegas but compared to the other top clubs right now, Rhino, Sapphire, and maybe CH3 or Treasures, probably the best bang for your buck without sacrificing too much quality. Palominos VIP starts at the common 3 for 100 which is still pricey but at least you don't have the ridiculous mandatory VIP drink fees. Plus its private with a curtain and fully nude. As always, YMMV but we've had dances at the Palomino that are just as good as anywhere else in Vegas. If you don't care too much about quality and you just want a cheap night, Chicas is right next door.
