An inefficient use of space.

Of the Hong Kong trifecta (Tropical Bar being the other prong), Las Chavelas definitely features the older and heavier talent. That's not a bad thing. I do enjoy changing things up. One can only get wood for 18~22 year old rail thin girls with fake boobs for so long before I gotta close my eyes and imagine Sofia Vergara in order to bust. But I wonder what this building used to be before HK and Cascadas set up shop. It's a fair amount of space that extends from Coahila all the way to the Callejon exit in the south. There is nowhere near as many floors as HK (only a balcony sort of second floor) and the booths are less space efficient as their HK counterparts. Still, each and every time I walked through Las Chavelas at all hours of the day and night be it weekend or weeknight, not once did I see the club even half full.

I doubt I ever saw more than 40 girls working even between 10PM and midnight (which should be the mongering hour). For a TJ club of this size, that seems like a waste of space and waiters. So if you're looking for a breather from the crowd and noise, stop in here for a slightly cheaper beer (though it still can't compete with most local bars) with some food from Azul (HK's restaurant that delivers to all 3 clubs as well as both of their hotels) and chill to some música norteña. It is well that Zona Norte has slightly more relaxed bars like Las Chavels or flat out vacant hangars like Chicago Club. We mongers need a place to recharge before jumping once more into the fray.
