Desire
There was ample free parking outside when I arrived around 11:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening. Cover charge was $10. Inside, Desire is small, but it has a nice, upscale look. There are two small square bars to your front as you enter, main stage to left, another smaller stage against the back wall. There are light panels on either side of the main stage with flame animations, and a similar larger panel behind the second stage with animated flames, fireworks, etc. The club is finished with dark stained wood and the floor is large white tiles with black accents. It has a very nice look. It's the kind of place where you wouldn't feel out of place in a suit or sport jacket.
There was a good sized crowd consisting almost entirely of white guys ranging in age from 20s to 60s. There were a couple of older PLs in slacks and sport jackets (including me since I had just gotten in after a long day of business), but most of the crowd was younger and dressed much more casually in blue jeans/polo shirts/t-shirts, etc. There were a couple in shorts, despite the chilly fall New England weather, but no one was in athletic shorts or sweat pants. I don't know if they enforce a dress code, but everyone was dressed at least as nicely as you would expect to see in a nice upscale but casual restaurant.
I took a seat at the bar, ordered a $5 domestic beer and surveyed the activity. It looked like there was around 15 or 20 or so dancers circulating, mostly white and/or Latina and a couple of what looked like light skinned AAs, ranging dramatically in quality. Most were at least average looking, and there were a few very nice looking girls, but also a few dogs roaming around. My rating: 3 to 9, center of mass 6. The customers outnumbered the girls by a pretty good margin, and a number of girls were sitting with customers so it was a while before any stopped by. While I was sitting at the bar sipping on my beer a bouncer working the floor came by, said hello, and offered to by me a drink on the house. I thanked him but politely declined since I wasn't even halfway through my first drink, which was going to be my only drink since I was driving. Nevertheless this was a very nice customer service touch, especially at a strip club where more often than not the management gives the impression that they don't give a shit about the customer.
