I've been to the Golden Horseshoe now a couple of times when I've been out at the casino (place is barely 5 mins away from the casino) and have generally enjoyed the experience. I recall my first trip a few years ago and not knowing the feel/vibe of the place before hand, I was a bit lost (being more used to places that have more of a "club feel" -- the place definitely has more of a bar feeling to it). On return trips, I had a much better time.

When you arrive, there is a sign-in at the door (my understanding it that it has to do with the laws governing clubs in WV) and a $10 cover. When you enter, you are in the bar area that has the feel of any bar -- some high top tables, wooden bar. The main difference, of course, being the scantily clad women. The bar area is decorated with photos of the dancers and some other memorabilia. This area flows into the stage area which has a long sunken stage connected to a round, raised stage at one end in the center of the room. There is also a long stage with a round end along the wall (I've only seen this stage used on one visit). There are some tables along the wall in the stage area and chairs along the stages.

I have only been out there on a Friday or Saturday night, but have observed there are two very distinct crowds -- the regular guys and the casino guys. The casino guys aren't really there until close to midnight, so if you arrive around 10 or so (as I have on all occasions) it's mostly regulars. The regulars tend to be at the bar (some at the stage) whereas the guys coming in from the casino go right to the stage. I've tried out both areas and found they each have their advantages. The stage benefits are obvious -- see the dancers, tip, etc. But, after their dances, I've found the ladies tend to go directly to the bar -- not necessarily because they are drinking a lot, but it's where they hang out. This is a positive of the bar area. The most fun I've had was hanging out at the bar, chatting with some of the ladies, and then heading over to the stage for their set or doing a private dance. Of course, where you spend your time depends on your own personality (try out both).
