Visited: Tuesday Afternoon

I like to visit various clubs in Phoenix in the afternoon if I can get off work early. Most clubs are dead, except for the normal Hiliter, Bandaids and a few others. I was in the west part of town on a Tuesday afternoon about 3:00, and I saw that T & A has changed its name to Minks, and painted the building. I went in to check it out.

The bouncer said that on this day there was a $5 cover because of specials they were running. They offered $5 dances and $3 drinks. He also said there were 5 dancers in the club. I almost left, but for only a $5 cover and $5 dances, I did not have much to lose.

The interior of the club is pretty nice. I looks similar to T & A, but fixed up quite a bit. However, the similarity to T & A ends at the furnishings. While T & A seemed very Latin, with a lot of Hispanic dancers and Mexican music, Minks is very African American with hip hop and rhythm and blues. All the dancers were Black.
