Not what I was expecting....
So I was in Dallas visiting a buddy for the weekend and had been reading reviews about Baby Dolls as well as The Lodge.
The night before, I had gone to Baby Dolls and had a great time (will review eventually...) so I figured it was time to check out The Lodge which is #5 on the TUSCL list of 10 ten clubs.
It I Ubered up and paid the cover. I walked into the front room. It was quite an odd set-up. There was the aforementioned stage with Jungle theme. Every few songs a girl would come out of this cave and slowly dance on stage. The front room also had a side stage with a pole. The odd part was instead of the usual chair set-up, this club had larger tables as well. This made for a totally crowded floor which was impossible to maneuver. It wasn't even crowded on a weekend night but I couldn't even find a spot to camp out and check out the talent. I took a loop into the back room which was fairly dark and featured an "upstairs" VIP area. Nothing much was going on, and it was too dark to see anyone anyways. I headed back out to the front room to go to the bar - which was accessible only by a handicap ramp. I took a long walk up the zig-zagging ramp and had a seat at the bar. Super awkward. Furthermore there wasn't a great view of the stage from the bar.
One beer and zero dances/girls later, I left and hopped a short ride back to Baby Dolls where I had a rather great time. (No, not into Cubans but they are pretty loco in in the upstairs at BD's).
Not sure I would ever repeat. Maybe it was an off night.
