I last visited Sundowner in 2008 when it was constantly on the TUSCL top ten list. This visit the club looked the same - just eight years older and very tired. As I walked in, a stripper was on her cell in the entry area and turned her back as I walked by. I didn't think much of it, just assumed she wanted privacy for her phone conversation. Inside the main club area there were about a dozen dancers, including one on stage, eight customers (four at the bar watching a CFL replay game) one bartender (mid 40s and slightly overweight), a DJ who stayed in his place and just announced songs, and two guys who were either bouncers or "managers." The decor and the furniture (after my eyes adjusted) looked worn down and somewhat depressing. I am pretty sure no remodeling, repainting, or even furniture updates have happened since I was last here.

As best I could tell, all the dancers were attractive, lean and fit. I saw no traffic stopping 10s, but neither did I see any dancer I would rate less than a 6. Of the 4 customers who weren't munching the free lunch and watching TV, two were at the stage just leering at the dancers and the other two were in separate dark corners - alone. Other than taking turns on stage, the dancers seemed to split their time between talking to the bartender and wandering back to their dressing room. The place didn't have a lot of "energy," but neither did it seen totally "dead." Fortunately, I wasn't mobbed by desperate dancers, but it was clear before I sat down that I would have choices.

I bought a beer at the bar (I think it was $6 Canadian) and found a seat a row back from the stage. I had just finished my first sip when the dancer I passed coming in, approached and apologized for "ignoring" me as I entered. She claimed that she turned away because she didn't want me to think she was collecting some kind of cover charge. (??) With my permission, this well shaped, natural "D" cup, darkly tanned (tanning booth daily, she said) blond, sat next to me and we talked for a few minutes. Eventually she asked, "Are you here for the drinks, killing time, to see the stage show, or do you want some lap dances?" When I admitted VIP was my preference, she kindly volunteered.
