Has greed ruined the Landing Strip?
The Landing Strip used to be my favorite club in the western suburbs of Detroit but greed seems to have taken its toll on this club. First a minor example---- the club has started requiring patrons to use its $7 valet parking even though street parking is available and quite safe around the club. Drinks are still expensive (as in $8.75 for a bottle of domestic beer)-- another minor annoyance but not out of line with some of the other clubs. Perhaps most annoying is that the club seems to be populated with dancers who are requesting unrealistically high prices for private dances or, worse yet, making deceptive and misleading promises about private dances. In my most recent afternoon visit, there were very few customers but the dancers were still requesting unrealistic prices and making vague, misleading hints about "fun." As others have mentioned, if you are interested in getting a private dance at any of the Metro Detroit clubs (including the Landing Strip) always negotiate before heading downstairs to the lap dance area. If the dancer refuses to discuss prices or details, then you should move on, to a different dancer to to a different club.
This is the third straight visit to the Landing Strip where I've stayed for less than an hour before relocating to one of the other West Detroit clubs. So, if you have a few hours to kill while you're near the airport, I suggest that you visit the Flight Club (which is also on the high end of the price continuum but features fewer misleading dancers) or the Cricket (decent, but not outstanding group of dancers but more realistic and honest pricing).
